[Proverbs 4: 23], “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life”. I have to wonder; is there more to this “heart” than we are aware of, for instance, its capabilities beyond just pumping blood through our body keeping us alive and well? Does the abundance of our heart include the substance of the word we are to hid in it to keep us from sinning against God, [Psalms 119:11], “Thy word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee”.
Let’s explore some more scriptures about the heart to get a closer look at its possibilities that the majority of us have never even considered, maybe because those before us were never aware of, and as a consequence, never exposed us to them with their full meaning, quite possibly because they had never learned or considered them. We don’t usually think of the heart as a creative, thinking organ such as the mind, or brain, but in the context of being “fearfully and wonderfully made” [Psalms 139:14], ”I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well”. Do we really understand the depths of God’s capabilities in what he created us to be and do? Do we really understand what marvelously created creatures we are?
